After being detained by ICE and put into an immigration detention center, Rich Alfonso is left in isolation to himself where he goes back and thinks of what got him here, from his parents immigrating to the United States to who he is as a person, all through reliving memories, storytelling and other scenarios.
Underscored by the musical direction of Jon Monteverde, Rich Alfonso makes his solo show premiere at the Annoyance Theatre. Intertwined with solo sketch, monologues and dance, Rich takes us through a myriad of scenes from his life. Being raised in the Dominican Republic and moving around can be eye opening to what is or what is not a “citizen” of America. Why even immigrate here?
